Scientific awards

• 1st price in the contest “de Jonge Onderzoekers” (the Young Scientists) for groupresearch (Harderwijk, the Netherlands, 1969);

• Award of Scholarship in the “European Philips Contest for Young Scientists and Inventors (Eindhoven, the Netherlands, 1969); both awards were provided for the vision research on Drosophila melanogaster;

• Student-award of the University of Utrecht (1974).

• Dental School (University of Dundee, UK, Prof.Dr. SW Cadden): joint projects ‘Control mechanisms affecting jaw reflexes evoked by intra-oral stimuli in man’, and ‘Central and peripheral mechanisms related to differences in oral reflex patterns’. Furthermore projects on food comminution (University of Dundee, UK,  Dr MF Lyons);

In 2006, invited as chairman and speaker for the sattelite symposium ‘Mastication’ (IADR meeting, June 2006, Brisbane, Australia).

In 2008, invited as chairman for the 56th General Session & Exhibition of the IADR (July 2008, Toronto, Canada).

In 2013, invited as speaker for the 6th Annual Workshop of the Food Structure Team (the New Zealand Institute for Plant & Food Research (Lincoln, New Zealand), School of Engineering and and Advanced Technology, Massey University (Palmerston North, New Zealand), the University of Auckland, and industrial partners), at the Massey University,Albany, New Zealand.

In 2018, invited as poster chairman for the 96th IADR/PER General Session & Exhibition (July 2018, London, UK).
